DISCUSSION
Facilities Maintenance staff reviewed the requirements for the current uniform rental contract with Prudential Overall Supply, Inc. and the ATU Collective Bargaining Unit agreement. Facilities Maintenance staff is working closely with the ATU Executive Board members, Metro staff and Metro contractor to make all necessary adjustments to address the inquiries received and ensure timely and quality service, per the following:
• Improve the process to obtain new uniforms for Metro newly hired employees and employees new to a classification.
• Ensure the availability of uniforms designed for females.
• Ensure employees transferred from one location to another continue to receive the required uniforms.
• Ensure timely service of uniforms in need of repair or receive brand new replacement uniforms in lieu of their worn-out sets.
Facilities Maintenance staff and Metro contractor only recently learned of the specific issue of uniform fit for a female employee. As of August 31st the request was fulfilled as the employee who initiated the request received the uniforms. Female designed uniforms are available upon request.
To ensure safe, timely and quality service, Facilities Maintenance staff distributed updated procedures for each of the inquiries listed above to all the Division Managers and Assistant Managers. These procedures are to be followed by the employees and their supervisors.
