REGULAR BOARD MEETING

JULY 24, 2025

Preamble

Motion by:

DIRECTORS BARGER, HORVATH, BASS, DUTRA, AND SOLIS

Extending the Wildfire Recovery Modified LIFE Enrollment Motion

At the January 2025 meeting, the Board passed Motion 36 by Directors Hahn, Barger, Horvath, Solis, Dutra and Bass which initiated the immediate implementation of the Wildfire Recovery modified LIFE enrollment to assist survivors of wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles County earlier that month.

The stated purpose of implementing the modified LIFE enrollment was to ensure individuals and families displaced by the wildfires have access to free or subsidized transit that may prove vital in connecting them to shelters, medical care, workplaces, schools, and other essential services. In June 2025 and again this week, the Board received updates on the program, which has shown robust utilization and is undoubtedly continuing to meet its intended purpose.

Given the widespread impacts to and displacement of survivors, our recognition of an ongoing need, and an understanding that recovery from these tragedies extends beyond the initial 6 months of this modified LIFE enrollment; we believe that this program should be extended.
