AD HOC CONGESTION, HIGHWAY, AND ROADS COMMITTEE

APRIL 17, 2019

Preamble

Revised Motion by:

Butts, Fasana, Hahn, and Solis

Related to Item 6: I-10 ExpressLanes Extension

Item 6, if approved by the Board, would authorize the use of toll revenues generated from the I-10 corridor in the San Gabriel Valley, in a not-to exceed amount of $3.9 million to upgrade fiber optic cable to accommodate the communications network necessary for future ExpressLanes including the conduits and other infrastructure needed, the new 72-strand fiber bundle, and future communications for any related Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) efforts.

The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) is seeking a similar authorization not-to-exceed $4.4 million in I-110 ExpressLanes revenues to plan design and construct a “South Bay Smart Net” broadband fiber optic ring and lateral lines.
